Luigi Petraccone

Department of Chemical Sciences

Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Napoli “Federico II” (Italy). In 2002 he received a PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Napoli “Federico II”. He has been visiting researcher at the University of Louisville (KY), USA in 2007. In 2004, he received the “Lucci” Award by the Italian Association of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis (A.I.C.A.T.) for the study of the thermal stability of the multi-stranded DNA structures. The main field of his research has been the physico-chemical studies on the stability of DNA triple and quadruple helices and their interaction with small ligands of pharmacological interest. Recently, he has directed his interest towards the study of the interaction of antimicrobial peptides with model biological membranes. He currently serves as member of the committee of the Ph.D. program in Chemical Sciences.
