Department of Biology

Associate professor of Cytology and Histology at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), in 2002 he received a PhD in Molecular systematics, and he was researcher at the Department of Biology, University of Naples Federico II from 2008 to 2020. Currently his research is focused on:
1) enhanced drug delivery across the blood brain barrier to ameliorate the progression and the outcome of neurodegenerative diseases.
2) effects of endocrine disruptors on endocrine homeostasis of vertebrates.
Studies are performed by in vitro dynamic 3D cell cultures, in vivo animal models and Light-Sheet fluorescence microscopy. In 2018 he has been the scientific coordinator of the project “Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) charged gH625-liposomes as effective delivery tool in dopaminergic neuron protection from neurodegenerative damage” funded by Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Foundation. Since 2013 he is full member of the European Microscopy Society.
